Fungal growth rate and the formation of ethylene in soil.

چکیده
The rates of ethylene production per unit mass of Mucor hiemalis are highest at low specific growth rates. Thus this fungus probably produces more ethylene in the soil, where growth rates are low, than would have been predicted by laboratory batch culture, where growth rates are high. The rate of utilization of energyyielding substrate by Mucor hiemalisincreases logarithmically with growth rate. This contrasts with the data obtained for Penicillium digitatum and Aspergillus nidulans; it is discussed in terms of the success of Mucor hiemalis as a primary saprophytic sugar fungus.

Objective: The genus Trichoderma comprises a great number of fungal strains that act as biological control agents, the antagonistic properties of which are based on the activation of multiple mechanisms. Methods: Trichoderma strains exert biocontrol against fungal phytopathogens either indirectly, by competing for nutrients and space, modifying the environmental conditions, or promotin...
متن کاملA kinetic analysis of the fungal degradation process of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) in soil
Fungal degradation of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) film in soil was described mathematically in terms of the surface growth rate of fungal hyphae and the degradation ability of fungal depolymerase. The surface growth rate of fungi was derived from the notion of equivalent symmetric tree model and was expressed for the two different growth phases, i.e. exponential phase an...
